The PC Education critic is suggesting that the province’s future fund could be used to address some of the shortfalls in deferred maintenance at Memorial university.
Paul Dinn was responding to questions about what action needs to be taken in light of a recent Auditor General report into MUN’s maintenance of its infrastructure, which turned out to be a scathing deep dive into how MUN handles that portfolio.
MUN currently has $481-million in deferred maintenance on its books.
Dinn suggests that the provincial future fund, which was established several years ago, could help with that.
Dinn argues that “Memorial University is the future for a lot of our residents” and that the future fund could be used toward the deferred maintenance.
