A young broadcaster is hosting a special fundraising event this weekend with a personal twist.
Seth Hyde is inviting hockey fans and supporters to drop by DF Barnes Arena this Sunday between 9:00 and 5:00 p.m. where he and his family will be serving hot drinks and treats from the canteen.
All proceeds raised will go to the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Hyde’s “Giving Back” initiative has a personal focus this year. His grandfather Smith was diagnosed with dementia in 2020, and his father Darin was recently diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s.
Seth’s goal is $1,000.
He says working alongside the Alzheimer’s Society of NL, they thought “it would be a great idea to have a ‘Pause for the Cause: Warm Up for Alzheimer’s.'” He says they’ll be offering up coffee, tea, hot chocolate, drinks and baked goods available for those who pop by the arena this Sunday.
