The capital city is paving the shoulder of the Main Road in the Goulds to make walking and cycling along the long stretch of busy road safer.
Money has been set aside in the city’s capital budget that will include paving part of the shoulder of the road from Doyle’s Road to Dooling’s Line.
Councillor Carl Ridgley says that also includes money to ensure that the shoulder is plowed and salted through the winter to help make it safer for pedestrians.
“It’ll cut down on washouts,” says Ridgely “and reduce maintenance.”
A tender for the work is set to be issued this spring.
