A fast moving system is expected to bring a sloppy mix of weather to parts of the island later this evening.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Avalon and parts of the south coast with snow, rain and fluctuating temperatures expected overnight and into tomorrow.
Meteorologist Tiffany Cheeks says the system will bring about 5 to 10 cm of snow for the Avalon tonight which will then shift to rain.
The snow will change to rain overnight as temperatures rise above the freezing mark and will ease off throughout Thursday morning with a chance of flurries or freezing drizzle. She says the highest snowfall amount is expected to be in the Gander or Clarenville area, but that could change depending on the system’s track.
