A social media post suggesting that teaching assistant budgets have been cut at the Faculty of Science at Memorial University are not accurate, says MUN.
The post suggests assignments are not being fully graded because of cuts to so-called TAs in the department.
But Memorial University says the Faculty of Science did not cut graduate teaching assistant budgets. In fact, says the faculty’s dean, TA budgets were increased to match the increases negotiated in the Teaching Assistants’ Union collective agreement.
They say that information has been conveyed to the instructor, and the post has since been removed, although screen grabs remain in circulation.
