A Bay Roberts man is facing a list of charges after he allegedly struck a police car while trying to avoid a spike belt near Tilton early Tuesday morning.
The RCMP say the incident unfolded shortly after 2 a.m. when they attempted to pull a vehicle over in Carbonear.
The driver did not stop and fled towards Tilton.
Police deployed a spike belt, but that was unsuccessful as the driver doubled back, striking a police cruiser in the process.
However, the situation did not end there with the suspect driving on.
The vehicle was later located behind a business in Tilton, and 28-year-old Geoffrey Parsons was arrested shortly thereafter.
The accused appeared in court today on a number of charges, those being two counts of flight from police, two counts of dangerous driving, two counts of assault with a weapon, resisting arrest, and mischief causing damage over $5,000.
No one was injured during the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
