A windy and messy weather system is headed for the island beginning overnight.
Environment Canada meteorologist Justin Boudreau says it will be a quiet day across most of the island—except on the west coast where they will see flurries and snow squalls.
Early tomorrow morning is when the weather will turn.
Boudreau says snow will turn to rain for many areas throughout the day, and the back to flurries again – with a risk of snow squalls on the west coast.
He says the system will bring some significant winds along with it.
He says there is a wind warning out for the northern Avalon, which could be expanded, and on the west coast including the Wreckhouse area. He says gusts will range from about 100 km/h in metro, and 120 km/h on the west coast.
Boudreau notes that there is a bit more snow expected on the Northern Peninsula, and as a result there is a blowing snow warning out for that area.
