The first storm of the winter season on the northeast Avalon has left a mark.
41.1cm of snow was recorded in the east-end of St. John’s before the system started to move off around mid-morning, according to Environment Canada meteorologist Kelly Butt.
Wind gusts reached a peak of 143 km/h at Cape Pine near St. Shott’s on the southern tip of the Avalon.
Gusts around the capital city peaked at around 95 km/h.
St. John’s east final snowfall total: 41.1cm.

Deputy manager of public works with the city of St. John’s, Lynnann Winsor is encouraging people to be patient as city crews work to clear the streets.
She says crews will be working “around the clock” for the foreseeable future. They have done an assessment, and expect all streets to be cleared and widened by 1 p.m. tomorrow.
