Expect to see a few more friendly faces, and wagging tails, at St. John’s International Airport starting this morning.
St. John Ambulance has formed a new partnership with the St. John’s International Airport Authority to bring its Therapy Dog Program to anxious travellers.
St. John Ambulance Director of Marketing and Communications, Roberta Hewitt, says travel can be a difficult experience for some, and the dogs will be there to divert some of the attention away from that fear of flying.
The dogs, all of which have been chosen for their calm demeanor, will be at the airport with their owners today greeting travellers and looking for a little attention.
“They’re very well-mannered,” says Hewitt of the dogs involved, “and they love attention, and they just want to provide you with that attention. The next thing you know, that stressed passenger is fine.”
