All of Canada’s living former prime ministers are urging Canadians to fly the Maple Leaf this Saturday in a show of solidarity against the economic threats and insults made against the country by US President Donald Trump.
This Saturday is Flag Day, marking the 60th anniversary of the official adoption of the iconic Maple Leaf as Canada’s flag.
The former prime ministers; Joe Clark, Kim Campbell, Jean Chretien, Paul Martin, and Stephen Harper issued a joint open letter to Canadians, urging them to show how Canada is “worth celebrating and fighting for.”
The former PMs say they’ve witnessed the “surge of Canadian pride and patriotism” in recent weeks “in the face of threats and insults from Donald Trump.” They’re now asking Canadians from coast to coast to “show the flag like never before” and make “this Flag Day one to remember.”
