The GST / HST tax holiday on certain items that came into effect just before Christmas comes to an end today, however, the NDP is calling on Ottawa to commit to an extension of the break.

Leader Jagmeet Singh says if elected, his government would permanently eliminate the tax on daily essentials and monthly bills, including home heating, cell phone and internet charges, diapers, car sets, kid’s clothes and grocery store meals.

That $5-billion dollar commitment says Singh will benefit “everyone who shops at a grocery store or pays a bill.”
