RCMP are commending two provincial snow plow operators for going above and beyond in helping to rescue the occupants of two vehicles stuck in the snow in treacherous conditions on Monday.
Police say one vehicle with three people on board became stuck in the Wreckhouse area Monday morning.
When the driver opened the door to assess the situation they were in, hurricane-force winds of up to 150 km/h blew the door off the vehicle, leaving the occupants at risk of blowing over an embankment.
Another driver also found themselves stuck, partially off the highway in white-out conditions.
RCMP say first responders were unable to get to the scene because of the extreme storm conditions – that’s where provincial snow plow operators jumped into action, locating the stranded travelers and bringing them to safety.
