RCMP in Bay St. George is asking for the public’s help in its investigation into an unusual incident in which a snowmobiler ended up in hospital with serious injuries.

RCMP were called about an injured snowmobiler around 4:30 Friday afternoon on Gravel’s Pond in Port au Port. The snowmobiler had reportedly fallen from his machine after it came to a stop and suffered serious injuries that police say do not appear to be consistent with the fall from the snowmobile.

The cause of the injury remains under investigation.

Police are asking for the public’s help as they continue their investigation. They are hoping to speak with anyone who travelled along the isthmus, an area commonly known as The Gravels, in Port au Port between the hours of 3:57 and 4:05 on Friday, February 21st.

Drivers are also being asked to check for possible dash cam surveillance during that time.
