Premier Andrew Furey has outlined some of the measures being taken in Newfoundland and Labrador in response to Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canadian products.
Furey says Newfoundland and Labrador will not stand by while the province’s long-standing relationship with United States is “unlawfully and unjustly harmed.”
American products are being removed from liquor store shelves and the province is reviewing, and will be bringing an immediate stop – where possible – to government procurement from the United States.
He says the province is also identifying new export markets, deepening its connections with Europe and beyond to build trading opportunities.
Newfoundland and Labrador will stand strong with Team Canada. We will protect and support our industries in response to the U.S. President's illegal tariffs on products from our province and our country that Americans rely on. pic.twitter.com/9VRHsLkWsW
