A 25-year-old man who reportedly fired a gun outside a Bay Roberts gas station has been arrested and charged by RCMP.
Police were called to the business around 1:30 this morning. RCMP learned that a man, armed with a long gun, entered the store, spoke to the clerk and left. He then reportedly fired off two rounds in the parking lot and left in the scene in a pickup.
According to RCMP, the man, identified as Curtis Peddle, was located by police on the Veteran’s Memorial near Mackinsons. Officers, with firearms drawn, demanded that Peddle exit the vehicle, and he was arrested without further incident.
A firearm and ammunition were located and seized by police.
The accused is facing charges of discharging a firearm while being reckless, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and unsafe storage of a firearm.
