A package containing nearly $1-million worth of contraband items has been intercepted at Dorchester Penitentiary in New Brunswick, which houses some inmates from Newfoundland and Labrador.
Last Monday, after what Correctional Service Canada describes as the “vigilance of staff members,” a package containing several contraband items was seized on the perimeter of the medium security unit.
Items seized include methamphetamine, ecstasy, shatter/THC, tobacco, marijuana, nicotine patches, and cell phones. The estimated institutional value of the items is over $941,000.
Police have been notified and the institution is investigating.
