Starting in June, some residents in the province will be able to get their shingles shot free of charge.
On June 1, shingles shots will be offered to those 65 to 70 years of age and those over the age of 70 who are classified as immunocompromised.
Before now, many who wanted to get the vaccine to prevent shingles, were forced to pay a hefty fee out of pocket.
Government is also adding coverage of enhanced flu shots for those over the age of 65.
Acting Health Minister John Haggie will be speaking to media about the expansion of the province’s immunization program at 1 p.m. at Confederation Building.
