The name of the fundraising campaign mimmicks the issue at hand – Heads Without Beds, and it’s into its last week.
Home Again Furniture Bank provides gently-used furniture to individuals and families in need to help them establish stable and comfortable homes.
Their campaign began some years ago with about a dozen clergy, mainly from the Anglican Diocese, sleeping on the floor. That has now grown to over 80 people from all walks signing up to help raise money to combat homelessness.
Amy Tulk of Home Again Furniture says the campaign has grown significantly over the years, noting that they have done some 3700 deliveries over the past ten years.
She also notes that their criteria has changed over the years in terms what they can accept in the way of donations.
She says they now have the ablity to cleran and do some repairs to furniture wehereas in the beginning the item would not have been accepted.
