A 66-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a snowmobiler was seriously injured while crossing an area near Port au Port West last month.
Initially, it was believed that the snowmobiler was injured after falling from his machine, but the police investigation soon revealed otherwise.
RCMP won’t say at this time how the snowmobiler suffered the injuries he received, however the charge as it appears on the court docket reads “attempting to commit murder where a firearm is used in the commission of the offence.”
Harold Wayne Hynes of Port au Port West was arrested on Sunday and appeared in provincial court this morning via teleconference on one count of attempted murder.
Hynes was remanded to custody pending his next appearance in court tomorrow.
