New Pennywell Road in St. John’s has reopened to traffic following a weapons-related incident this morning.
People who live in the area say about a dozen police cars descended on a house around 8:30 a.m., with at least one officer seen running with gun drawn.
Access through New Pennywell was shut down between Eagle Court and Barkham Street, with drivers asked to avoid the general area.
The RNC have resolved the event in the area of New Pennywell Rd.
There will continue to be a police presence in the area as the investigation continues.

Residents say it used to be a quiet area, with a lot of good neighbours. But they say there are also several houses which “don’t do anything good for the neighbourhood.”
One eyewitness told VOCM News that one person was seen being escorted to a waiting police car.
RNC have since stated one man was taken into custody with charges pending.
