FFAW President Dwan Street is taking several positives away from the Boston Seafood show earlier this week.
Many stakeholders have underscored the importance of attending the event, even with heightened trade tensions with the United States, because of the diversity of vendors at the event.
Street says, perhaps surprisingly, there wasn’t much talk of tariffs at the show.
She expected there to be a “negative cloud” hanging over the event, but that wasn’t the case – she only heard the word “tariff” a handful of times over the course of three days. “I’m taking that as a positive, ” says Street, who notes that there seems to still be “a really strong appetite” for Newfoundland and Labrador’s product.
