A St. John’s man is facing some serious charges following an incident on New Pennywell Road in St. John’s on Friday.
Police were called following multiple reports of a disturbance in the area, and ended up barring off a section of the road as they zeroed in on one home.
RNC officers eventually reached a woman in the house who had suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital.

A short time later a 28-year-old man was arrested at the same residence and taken into custody.
The suspect, who was not named by police, faces charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, breach of probation order, as well as firearms offences.
He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
