The executive director of the province’s Cancer Care Foundation has passed away.
Lynette Hillier served in the role for nearly two decades. She embarked on her own cancer journey in 2017, when she was diagnosed.
Hillier, who was originally from Labrador City, passed away on Saturday at the age of 48.
She is being remembered for her work as a “driving force” behind campaigns that brought new equipment and even a new chemo unit to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre in St. John’s.
Donations in her memory are being accepted for the Cancer Care Foundation’s Patient and Family Support Fund.
Visitation will take place today at Carnell’s Funeral Home, with a celebration of her life to take place on Wednesday, March 26th from Gower Street United Church.
