The RNC and MUN’s School of Pharmacy are once again joining forces to allow area residents the chance to safely dispose of unused medications.

The public pill drop will take place today at RNC Headquarters.

RNC Constable James Cadigan says it’s important to dispose of that unused and unwanted medication in a responsible manner.

He says they’re taking everything from prescription medications to vitamins and supplements. That includes antibiotics, EpiPens, and narcotics. He says he learned from the students at MUN’s School of Pharmacy about the harm that can be caused when medications are simply thrown into the trash. The medications, once in a landfill or in the water system, can leach into the natural environment.

The pill drop takes place today from 1:00 to 5:00 at RNC Headquarters in Fort Townsend.
