NAPE has voted in favour of ending all union-sponsored travel to the United States for the foreseeable future.
President Jerry Earle says the decision comes following “persistent threats” by US President Donald Trump against Canadian workers, and threats of annexation and tariffs.
Earle says the Board of Directors at NAPE also recognizes what they call increased surveillance being reported by people travelling in to the US “due to their political actions, beliefs, and community involvement”
The union says it cannot “in good conscience allow travel on (their) behalf when safety cannot be guaranteed.”
