Today is Labrador Flag Day.
The idea for a Labrador flag first came about in 1973, and the flag was first flown on this day in 1974 – 51 years ago.
The NDP MHA for Labrador West says the flag is a “symbol of the heart and soul of the Big Land” and says it represents the “enduring spirit of a people who have always stood strong and united.”
Jordan Brown says it is also important to use this day to reflect on the work that remains in Labrador and cites issues such as health care, mental health and addictions, housing, and infrastructure.
