Updated operational standards governing personal care homes were drafted in 2022 but have not yet been implemented, and therefore enforced.
The Auditor General pointed to operational standards that have not been updated since 2007 in her performance audit on personal care homes released yesterday.
PC MHA Pleaman Forsey told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly that those standards, and a lack of oversight and accountability remain outstanding issues.
Speaking in his role as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, he said there should be an implementation plan, and even a public hearing.
Forsey says the committee will be following-up on the AG’s recommendations and is calling for action.
