Food First NL has launched a new grant program to help non-profits purchase equipment for school food programs.
The organization is part of a coalition of similar groups from across Atlantic Canada.
They have been tasked with distributing $1-million in federal funding through the program.
As Food First NL CEO Josh Smee explains, the funding can be used by non-profits to purchase equipment that will help them with their programs.
He believes there will be good uptake with the initiative.
Smee says equipment for food-related programs can be expensive. He says it can help pay for several types of equipment, including kitchen items, food storage, and vehicles.
Applications are open until the end of day April 27th.
