One man is dead as the result of a house fire in Port Saunders early Sunday morning.
Firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 1:00 yesterday morning. Despite their efforts, the structure could not be saved.
The body of the lone occupant, a man who was well known in the community, was found at the scene after the flames were doused. The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office is involved in the investigation.
A probe into the cause of the fire is now in the hands of the RCMP fire investigator.
