The association which represents owners of personal care homes welcomes a report by the Auditor General which uncovered some troubling situations in facilities which care for the aged.
The report found, among other things, that NLHS “often” relicensed personal care homes when there were instances of non-compliance with operational standards.
Shaun Lane, president of the personal care home owners association , says their members would prefer to have a system whereby information from government inspections is available online to anyone who wishes to access it.
He says many of the non-compliance issues are of a minor nature, such as not having paper towels in the holder.
Lane says the standards for most operators aren’t the standards they strive to achieve.
