For the first time ever, schools from Labrador will have the chance to compete in the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Memorial High School Hockey Tournament.
Thirty-two teams will compete in this year’s event – 16 girls’ and 16 boys’ teams, including the Mealy Mountain Collegiate Hawkes, from Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
The competition, which is the largest high school hockey tournament in the province, is dedicated to the fallen of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, and all those who have served.
The teams compete for the Beaumont Hamel Cup, and the Beaumont Hamel Centennial Cup.
The tournament takes place from April 28th to May 4th, with games being played in Paradise and St. John’s.
