Restaurants Canada is applauding two measures introduced in this week’s budget that it says will help local operators.

This year’s budget includes a loan guarantee program to help locally-owned restaurants, and $1 million dollars to increase wholesale discounts for licenced restaurants and bars to lower the cost of some alcoholic beverages and increase their profit margins.

Vice-President Atlantic of Restaurants Canada, Janick Cormier told the Tim Powers Show on VOCM that they’re very pleased with the measures.

She says they were two requests made of government, “and so we’re very pleased to see them come to fruition.”
