The fisheries union says its members on the west coast are very concerned about the lack of information on a ship which ran aground in the Bay of Islands in mid-February.
The lobster season is not far off, and harvesters say the longer the Baltic III sits on the rocks in Cedar Cove at Lark Harbour, the greater the risk of a spill or pollution.
The Canadian Coast Guard says no pollution has yet been observed and all containers of polymer beads, used in plastics, have been removed.
FFAW President Dwan Street says they would like to be kept informed about the status of the ship.
She says it’s difficult to get any timelines and their members in the area are worried about what could potentially happen.
