April is Oral Health Month, and the Canadian Dental Association is stressing the importance of going to the dentist early and often.
Dr. Joel Antel says that while many people may be in a tough financial situation now, prolonging dental work will only cost more in the long run.
“If (patients) let things go, it can very quickly become very expensive as opposed to getting in there, doing the prevention and catching problems early.”
“The psychological aspect of it is, there still is a lot of apprehension around going for dental care, but the approach to that is very much the same as the first thing we talked about, which is the more often you go, the sooner you go, the less likely you are to run into something that you are concerned about” says Antel.
