A shelter in place advisory issued for residents in the Mint Cove Pond Road area of Spaniard’s Bay has been lifted.

The advisory went out earlier this morning after police received a report of a man walking with a firearm.

The alert has now been lifted and residents can expect to see a continued police presence in the area.

RCMP are asking residents in Spaniard’s Bay to shelter in place as they respond to an “unfolding event involving an unknown man walking with a firearm.”

Police say the man was seen walking in the area of Mint Cove Pond Road.

People are being asked to avoid the area at this time.
