Fish and chips shops across the province are trying to keep up with what is usually their busiest day of the year.
It’s a long-held tradition in Newfoundland and Labrador for people to enjoy a feed of fish ‘n’ chips on Good Friday.
Janessa Ward of Keith’s Diner in the Goulds says they’re ready to serve the many people who will be coming out for their Good Friday favourites.
“Good Friday is a busy day, but we’ve got all hands on deck. It takes a whole team to make today happen and we’re super excited to serve all our customers today.”

She says they’ve been preparing for some time to make sure they have everything they need and she credits staff for helping them get through the rush each year.
Even former staff members step up to help out.
“We’re lucky we have such a great team,” says Ward. “They’re so eager to help, we have a lot of fun staff. Even staff who have moved on over the years are always wanting to come back on Good Friday to be part of the fun, because it really is such an exciting day. It will be busy, and it takes a lot to get there, but the staff are ready and we’re super excited.”
