RCMP say more than seven million contraband cigarettes were seized after a tractor-trailer overturned on the Long Harbour access road earlier this week.
The crash occurred last Sunday night, and the road was closed for the better part of Monday as police investigated, removing the contraband, some of which had spilled onto the side of the road.
All tolled, Whitbourne RCMP determined that the truck contained more than 7,423,000 contraband cigarettes.

A case of pre-rolled illicit cannabis was also seized.
Police estimate the value of the illegal haul in the range of $2.4 million.
A 53-year-old Ontario man is facing charges under the Excise Act, Cannabis Act and Revenue and Administration Act.
It’s not known if he suffered any injuries in the crash.
