The provincial government has set up a new award to recognize municipal leaders in memory of provincial cabinet minister and longtime municipal worker Derrick Bragg.
Bragg passed away in January 2024 after a battle with tongue cancer.
He was first elected as a member of Dwight Ball’s government in 2015, and would later serve in several portfolios – most notably fisheries.
Before provincial politics, Bragg worked for decades as a town clerk and manager in his native Greenspond.
Now, government has created the Derrick Bragg leadership award, which will recognize a town clerk, town manager, or chief administrative officer who “goes above and beyond in all aspects of municipal operations.”
The deadline for submissions is May 16th and forms can be found here
