EElections Canada says Friday was a record-setting day for turnout in advance polling.
The agency says nearly two-million people flocked to polling stations on Good Friday across the country, and now the focus is to keep up with the demand.
Many voters were met with long lines as they attempted to cast their ballot at polling stations across the country, including some in this province.
Elections Canada says it is adjusting to handle the traffic as advance polls close tonight.
Polling stations will close this evening at 9:00 and re-open on election day next Monday.
Information on where to vote can be found on one’s voter registration card or online.
Preliminary estimates show that near 2M electors voted last Friday on the first day of advance polls. A record number! To all the electors who had to wait in line, thank you for your patience!
We’re going to continue to adjust over the next few days to handle the high traffic! pic.twitter.com/mqn9M0VfUA
