An oil industry insider is pointing to what he calls “extremely encouraging” signals around Bay du Nord.
Equinor put the pause on the project for up to three years in a shock move back in 2023, saying they needed time to find efficiencies.
Rob Strong points to information in an Energy NL daily bulletin last week that he says were promising.
He states that it included notice of a “Bay du Nord open house series,” which will consist of two information sessions to talk about the latest on the “reshaped Bay du Nord project concept,” including upcoming milestones.
While Strong believes that is a positive indication, it does come with a caution that there is nothing to indicate that the project is a go, nothing that is dependent on a financial investment decision. He says the sessions will give the business community a chance to get up-to-speed on where the project is and the company’s current mindset.
Strong says the first session is scheduled for April 29, and the other will be on May 14.
