The beleaguered NL Folk Festival has announced its line up for this year’s event.

The 49th annual festival is scheduled for July 11th to the 13th in Bannerman Park and will feature a long list of acts including Matt Andersen, Serena Ryder, the Irish Descendants, The Once, Anita Best, Sandy Morris and Dave Penney and Daunt Lee among others.

Executive Director of the NL Folk Arts Society, Julie Vogt admits, summer festivals in Newfoundland are always at the mercy of the forecast, but she says in the Folk Festival’s case, it’s a right of passage.

“It’s also a Folk Festival thing, where you come with your umbrella, and you’re sitting there in your chair and the rain’s pounding down. ” She says last year the weather was beautiful, “it was too hot almost!”

Early bird passes are now on sale, all other tickets will be available for purchase on May 1st.
