A provincial PC MHA says the results of last night’s federal election show a “divide in the country.”
As of now, the federal Liberals have a minority government with 168 seats, and the Conservatives will form the official opposition with 144 seats.
There are still some ridings that are still not decided, including Terra Nova-The Peninsulas where the Tories and Liberals were virtually neck-and-neck throughout the night.
PC MHA Paul Dinn says the results show division across the country, and indicate “uncertainty” with another minority government in power.
The federal Conservatives have two seats in the province right now.
While the Opposition Progressive Conservatives have no official ties to the Conservatives at the federal level, Dinn believes having more blue seats in the province is a good thing saying that he thinks it adds to a sense of what is “really happening” in the province. Dinn notes that, given recent polling number, he wasn’t surprised by that outcomes, but does point out that the Conservatives did pick up a few seats.
