The latest instalment of artwork in recognition of this province’s Indigenous peoples was unveiled at Confederation Building yesterday.
The work, entitled “Unity,” was created by Qalipu First Nation artist Marcus Gosse.
He says it illustrates the spirit of the Mi’kmaq people, “conveying community connectedness, cultural preservation, strength, support, and the beauty of their culture.”
But Gosse said it’s even more than that.
“It not only shows unity among all the cultures, but it also shows the eight districts of the Mi’kmaq territory, which is cool because the eighth one is actually Newfoundland.”
The art will be installed and on display in the east block lobby of Confederation Building.
