A Memorial University professor is urging international cooperation and targeted research to better understand climate change’s effects on the ocean.
Brad De Young is the co-author of a report looking into the issue. It says that governments needs to act quickly to protect the waters everywhere, not just those off this province.
He says government needs to look at the integration of new technologies to improve the ability to understand and forecast changing oceans in the coming decade.
He points to technology like AI and surface boats to help monitor the changing conditions.
