A beloved performer in the local music scene is looking forward to getting back on stage after a fierce battle with cancer.

Dave Penny was forced to take a break from performing after he was diagnosed with lymphoma back in 2023.

After months of chemo and a stem cell transplant, Penny is now in remission and looking forward to returning to take the stage for the first time since his diagnosis.

Penny will make his return this July during the NL Folk Festival, performing alongside longtime collaborator Daunt Lee.

“When you get back to doing something you love doing after being away from it for so long, it’s special.”
