All things under the construction umbrella are the focus of an expo this week at the Jack Byrne in Torbay.
The annual event, hosted by the Newfoundland and Labrador Construction Association, takes on added flavor this year with the imposition and threat of tariffs by the United States.
Transportation and infrastructure Minister Fred Hutton will open the two-day conference tomorrow morning followed by a presentation by his department on the projects which are on the table this year.
The chair of the association, Stephen Short, says work is coming up, tenders are going out, so it’s a good time to connect buyers with the industry.
There will be a discussion on navigating through the tariffs, there’s a session detailing construction projects in Labrador, former federal cabinet minister Seamus O’Regan will address the expo, and delegates will hear details about efforts to provide new Canadians with hands-on training.
