Prime Minister Mark Carney will meet with the Premiers today to talk about what transpired in Washington Tuesday regarding his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Carney sat down with the President, but it did not appear that much had changed regarding Trump’s position on tariffs and the 51st state.
The Prime Minister believes that a trade deal with the U.S. is possible, but says it will take many meetings.

He describes yesterday’s meeting as “constructive”, with the two agreeing to engage in further discussions over the coming weeks.
Carney told Trump that Canada will never be for sale. Trump responded “never say never.”
The President also made it clear that his stance on tariffs against Canada is firm.
Trump said there was nothing Carney could say during the meeting that would change his mind. When asked “why not?” by a reporter, he responded saying it’s “just the way it is.”
