The provincial government is rolling out a new digital training platform for restaurant workers across the province.
The platform is called The Customer Journey, and was developed by local restaurant owners Jeremy Bonia and Jay Vallis. Perfect Day Canada and Up Sky Down Films were also part of the development.
The program involves training modules for frontline staff working in hospitality and restaurant settings.
Bonia, a restaurateur and sommelier, argues that the program has always been a need of local restaurants.
He says training staff can be a big cost especially given the challenges operators have faced since the pandemic.
Bonia argues the platform is a solution to that problem, noting that it will help businesses that can’t afford to train staff themselves.
He hopes the program will help increase service standards across the province, and save businesses time and money. Bonia says the platform is digital and can be accessed anywhere, which is something that has not been available to small businesses before.
The provincial government is putting over $208,000 towards the program. It will be available for use by June 10.
