A local mountain climber, only the third mountaineer from Newfoundland and Labrador to conquer Mount Everest, was recognized in the House of Assembly yesterday.
Michael Kirby of CBS reached the summit on May 15th.
Cape St. Francis MHA Joedy Wall paid tribute to Kirby, who was in attendance in the public gallery.
He notes that Kirby went through a rigorous training process in order to prepare for the climb. His wife Sara and daughter Winslowe joined him for a portion of the climb to base camp.
