The government is marching toward an online world for most aspects of service delivery, but the opposition accuses it of moving too fast in some areas and allowing people to fall through the cracks.
The Minister of Government Modernization and Service Delivery, Sarah Stoodley, says over 400,000 people have now signed on to MyGovNL.
The government is also offering training to the public service to prepare them for advancements in technology such as AI.
She says they need to pilot new transformational technologies while maintaining program integrity and protecting personal privacy.
However, the critic, PC Loyola O’Driscoll, says the government has gone overboard in some respects.
He says it is shocking that people have to have an email to get access to a landfill to drop off their garbage.
“In addition to online services, in-person services should be available so that people can access things in a way that best suits them,” says the Ferryland MHA.
